An exciting opportunity has become available for a part time Christian Youth & Community Outreach Worker serving our rural village of Tollesbury situated on the Blackwater Estuary. 


We will be seeking an enthusiastic experienced and committed individual who can join us in spreading the love of Jesus amongst the people we encounter through our strong connections in the village, engaging with and supporting existing groups, and where appropriate pioneering new work. 


Being a committed Christian is essential as the role involves supporting and leading others in faith Schedule 9 of the Equality Act of 2010


The Church wishes to develop a youth club initially for years 6-9 drawing support from the community and church volunteers


Other activities the church is involved in with various partners are:


Fizzers after school club a 6 session term time club held in Tollesbury Primary School

A monthly school assembly at a neighbouring  CofE Primary School

A weekly, (Monday morning), Village Larder which is a free food resource for those in need, alongside this runs a community cafe staffed and organised by members of the Church

Once a month (Thursday morning) Friendship Cafe, supporting the isolated, bereaved or experiencing the onset of dementia

A twice monthly computer gaming initiative for 11-18 year olds

Messy Church, 3rd Sunday every month, and is a joint work with St. Mary's Church, Tollesbury

Weekly Friday evening men’s club


Starting Salary: Part time 20 hours per week £20,000 p.a. Holiday entitlement 16 days P.A. (6 month probationary period required)

 

 

THE JOB DESCRIPTION


 Christian Youth & Community Outreach Worker


Location: Tollesbury Congregational Church, The Centre, Tollesbury, Essex CM8QD

Reports to: Diaconate and Church Meeting


Job Purpose

       

        To engage, support, and disciple young people and the wider community through outreach initiatives

        and faith-based programmes, demonstrating the love and teachings of Jesus in practical and relevant ways

       Half-time, 20 hours per week to include some evenings and weekends. Paid Holiday 16 days
